May Theme: Self-Compassion

Mindfulness and self-compassion are often referred to as the two wings of freedom from suffering. MBSR participants are often faced with judging mind, self-criticism and doubt in their formal and informal practices. This refresher session for MBSR alumni will include some of the classic MBSR practices with adaptations to include and even highlight self-compassion in the practice. Participants will gain an understanding of what self-compassion is, some of the commonly misunderstood concepts of self-compassion and insights as to how to include self-compassion in both formal and informal mindfulness practices.

Teachers: Craig Sloane and Katherine Marx

Katherine Marx is a certified Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher and a family nurse practitioner living in New York City.

Craig Sloane is a psychotherapist with a private practice in NYC and is a qualified MBSR teacher through the Brown University Center for Mindfulness.
